The piece shows a woman seen from behind, … Read more I painted Through the Veil to explore vulnerability, presence, and quiet contemplation. The piece shows a woman seen from behind, standing at a balcony railing looking out toward the sky. Her sheer, flowing dress acts as a veil between her inner world and the open space around her.

I used thick impasto strokes and a palette knife to give the light, fabric, and figure a physical, sculptural feel. The warm earth tones of her skin contrast with the bright yellows below and the cool blues and lavenders above. This work is about the courage to stand in the light—unfiltered, present, and watching the horizon with quiet confidence.
