Description:
Presenting a magnificent and highly decorative vintage Chinese hardwood altar table (Kang Table / Tea Stand). Crafted from dense, richly grained Huali Rosewood with a beautiful, warm reddish-brown patina, this table features classic everted flanges at the ends.
The flat top surface is exquisitely decorated with shimmering Mother-of-Pearl, pink shell, and green stone inlay, depicting a charming "Magpie on a Plum Branch" (喜上眉梢) scene, symbolizing good news and happiness. The front features two drawers, each inlaid with a pair of peaches (symbols of longevity). The sides and the apron are deeply carved with elaborate, openwork floral scrolls, demonstrating superb craftsmanship. Each drawer is fitted with an aged bronze lock plate.
Condition: Excellent condition. The wood is solid and sturdy with a beautiful natural patina. All mother-of-pearl inlays are present and secure. The carvings are crisp and intact. The drawers slide smoothly. Minor surface wear and slight oxidation to the hardware, consistent with age and use. No structural damage. Please refer to all photos for exact condition.
