A beautiful mid-century impressionistic floral still life oil painting by celebrated American artist Rudolph Colao (1927–2014). This piece showcases Colao’s signature mastery of texture, light, and depth, rendering a dense arrangement of red, white, and pink chrysanthemums inside a footed brass bowl. The work features thick, expressive brushstrokes—an exemplary display of the alla prima and impasto techniques for which he was revered.
Signed "R. COLAO" in the lower right corner. The painting is housed in its original mid-century wooden frame featuring an ornate carved arrow pattern border and a classic cream canvas lined mat insert. A timeless piece that perfectly illuminates traditional, eclectic, or cottage-core interiors with the poetry of observed abundance.

A WWII veteran, he studied under Frank Vincent DuMond at the Art Students League of New York and went on to teach there as well as at the Scottsdale Artists School in Arizona. He was a member of the Allied Artists of America and the Rockport Art Association, winning the Grand Prize at the Washington Square Art Exhibit in 1960 and the Excellence in Painting award in 1995. His works have been widely exhibited and featured in major publications like American Artist Magazine and Southwest Art Magazine
