Deep indigo hooked star motifs rest on a rich brick-red field, while alternating bands of light and dark blue, brown, yellow, and brick tones create a composition that echoes the aesthetics of classic Shirvan kilims from the Caucasus and Shahsavan flatweaves from northwest Persia. Handwoven in two narrow panels and joined at the seam — a construction hallmark of Anatolian village weavers — the subtle variations between panels reveal the individual hand of the artisan and add to the piece's authentic character. A room-size kilim of this vintage and pedigree is a serious collector's acquisition.
