Beautiful original California coastal watercolor by R. J. Loesch, a Carmel, California artist, depicting the dramatic windswept Monterey cypress trees and coastline at Pescadero Point in Pebble Beach on California’s Monterey Peninsula.

The composition captures one of the region’s most recognizable landscapes, with sculptural Monterey cypress trees dominating the foreground, the Pacific beyond, distant coastline and seabirds overhead. Loesch employs expressive washes, strong dark forms and areas of exposed paper to create a wonderfully atmospheric interpretation of the rugged Pebble Beach coastline.

The watercolor is signed “R. Loesch” at lower left. Particularly noteworthy is the original backing, which bears the artist’s identification and Carmel address:
