A substantial antique primitive wood mortise workbench with a beautifully worn surface and rich, layered patina developed through years of use.
Originally made as a functional woodworking bench, the piece has an exceptional sense of age and authenticity, with a long, narrow form, heavily worked solid wood top, and beautifully irregular surface character.
The bench measures approximately 85" long x 14.5" deep x 37.5" high, with an unusually substantial 2.5" thick wood top.
The wood retains layers of wear, color variation, tool marks, abrasions, and softened edges that speak to its utilitarian history. The resulting patina is deep and nuanced, giving the piece a warmth and presence that is difficult to replicate in newer furniture.
