Mixed-media work on paper depicting a highly stylized horse, one of the artist's signature subjects, combining bold black gestural linework with green and pink accents and elaborate Persian-inspired ornamentation. The horse is embellished with a richly textured gold-toned decorative panel and a geometric jewel-like medallion, reflecting Ovissi's characteristic fusion of modern figurative art with traditional Iranian visual motifs. Titled “Sea Horse” at lower left, signed “Ovissi” at lower right and inscribed “A.P.” for Artist’s Proof. Ovissi, born in Tehran in 1934, is an important figure in Iranian modern art whose work frequently incorporates stylized horses, figures, geometric decoration and Persian cultural imagery.
