An expressive abstract oil painting on stretched canvas characterized by exceptionally heavy impasto and energetic palette-knife work. Dense passages of forest green, burgundy, ocher, mustard, cream, coral and muted turquoise overlap in broad, highly tactile fields, creating a richly dimensional surface.
The reverse is clearly signed “C. Mortimer.” While a C. Mortimer is documented in the auction market as a 20th-century painter working in oil on canvas, the artist's identity and authorship of this particular work have not been independently authenticated. The painting is therefore offered on the strength of the signed work itself rather than a formal attribution.
Presented unframed on its original stretcher and ready to hang.
