A charming American studio pottery berry colander, hand-thrown in speckled stoneware and decorated in cobalt blue, cream, and warm natural clay. The bowl is pierced with individually cut drainage holes, each surrounded by hand-applied blue dot motifs, while a delicate row of white dots traces the rim.
Sized for rinsing and serving berries or other small fruit, the piece is both functional and highly decorative. Its rhythmic perforation and cobalt pattern give it a sculptural quality that also makes it appealing when displayed empty as a collected studio ceramic. Maker unidentified.
