A striking three-piece dining and game set from Drexel’s Esperanto collection, dating from the 1960s. The set includes an octagonal low dining table and two matching curule-style armchairs.
The table features a dramatically bookmatched walnut veneer top arranged in a radial starburst pattern. Its substantial architectural base is composed of four sculptural, outward-scrolling supports joined by a decorative central stretcher. The unusual octagonal silhouette and expressive base reflect the Spanish Revival influences found throughout the Esperanto collection.
Both chairs feature coordinating curule-inspired wood frames with sweeping X-form profiles, decorative medallions and their original black Naugahyde upholstery. Padded backs, seats and armrests create comfortable, generously proportioned seating suitable for dining, games or conversation.
The table measures approximately 48” W × 48” D × 26.5” H, with approximately 23” of leg clearance.
Each chair measures approximately 23” W × 27” D × 27–28.5” H, with a seat height of approximately 15” and an arm height of approximately 24.5”.
The set remains in good original vintage condition. The wood displays minor surface scratches, edge wear and several small areas of finish loss consistent with age and use. The original black upholstery remains intact with light vintage wear. Please review the detailed photographs for a complete representation of condition.
The table was designed to accommodate extension leaves; i don’t have the leaves, so they are not included. The table measures 48” × 48” in its current octagonal configuration.
Three pieces total: one table and two matching armchairs.
