This antique German porcelain figural group portrays four provincial Dutch children in traditional attire gathered in lively conversation, each rendered with exceptional charm and detail. Standing approximately 7½ inches tall, 9 inches wide, and 5½ inches deep, the composition is sculpted with fine dimensionality and rests on an oval porcelain base featuring a textured relief pattern and a polished gold‑gilded lower band.
On the left, a young boy in a purple cap, yellow shirt, and dark maroon trousers reclines on the ground, leaning against a wicker basket as he looks upward, his orange wooden clogs scattered across the light green grass. Beside him, a second boy wearing a yellow hat and light blue tunic sits on a wooden sawhorse with his legs dangling, leaning forward and supporting himself with an oar held in his right hand.
At the center stands a girl with long brown braids, a green bodice, and a white apron, resting lightly against the sawhorse. To the right, a fourth child—a girl in a traditional pointed Dutch cap, dark sleeveless vest, white chemise, and floral‑patterned white skirt with a pink apron—sits on a wooden stool, gesturing animatedly with her left hand as she speaks.
A draped gray fishing net hangs heavily over the wooden crossbeam, adding rustic texture to the scene. The back reveals finely executed hand‑painted patterns, including delicate floral sprays on the girls’ shawls and aprons, along with the incised model number 9699 on the gilded base rim. The smooth, hollow underside bears the cobalt blue manufacturer’s mark, confirming authenticity and craftsmanship.
