(hua li mu) and designed for displaying and storing small treasures,
curios, tea ware, or jewelry.

The two doors feature a three-part composition: the upper sections are
pierced with a reticulated geometric lattice pattern (tortoiseshell /
hexagonal motif), allowing glimpses of the contents within; the middle
sections are of plain, polished wood; and the lower sections are carved
with openwork "Fu-Shou" (bat and longevity) auspicious motifs. The bat
(fu) symbolizes blessing and fortune, while the longevity character
represents health and long life — together conveying wishes for good
fortune and longevity.

Inside, the cabinet offers generous and flexible storage: a large upper
compartment, two small central drawers with brass pulls, and a large lower
compartment. The piece rests on a shaped, scalloped apron base. Brass
butt hinges and period-style pulls complete the construction.

At 23.6 inches high, it works beautifully as a tabletop display cabinet,
a desktop organizer, a jewelry chest, or a compact freestanding curio
cabinet for showcasing small collectibles.
