A generously scaled vintage English brass jardinière or cachepot featuring delicate neoclassical-inspired bow, garland and beaded decoration.
Measuring approximately 13.5 inches in diameter and 13 inches high, this is an unusually substantial example with enough scale to accommodate a large plant or to stand alone as a decorative accent. The restrained cylindrical silhouette is encircled by a finely detailed band of tied ribbons and draped swags, lending the piece an elegant English country house and traditional interior sensibility.
The underside is stamped “Made in England.”
Its brass surface has developed considerable character over time, including warm tonal variation, oxidation, surface wear and areas of natural verdigris. The interior shows heavier age-related oxidation and patination. Rather than being refinished or highly polished, the jardinière retains its wonderfully timeworn appearance.
Suitable for use as a decorative cachepot, floor planter, vessel for branches or architectural decorative object. A liner is recommended if used with a live plant; watertightness has not been tested.
