This substantial wildlife sculpture depicts a resting pelican with Metzger’s stylized carved detailing and a smooth polished stone surface. The natural coloration and veining of the soapstone give the piece wonderful depth and character.

The underside is hand signed Miles Metzger, dated 1986 and numbered 82/500, identifying it as part of a limited edition of 500.

Miles Metzger is an American sculptor known particularly for his work in soapstone (steatite) and wildlife subjects.

Measurements: approximately 10” long × 6.5” high.

Condition: Very good vintage condition with natural variations in the stone and minor age-appropriate surface wear. Please review photographs closely for condition.
