The solid timber top has a wonderfully worn surface, with visible grain, knots, marks and signs of previous use that give the piece plenty of character. Below, the heavy cast iron frame has been painted in green with contrasting blue and pale blue stretchers, creating a colourful workshop-inspired look. A particularly nice detail is the metal hanging rail with hooks fitted to one end, adding to its original utilitarian feel and making it practical for hanging tools, utensils or accessories. This would work brilliantly as a small kitchen island, preparation table, workshop table, shop display table or statement console, particularly in an industrial or eclectic interior.
