Designed by Carl Fagerlund for Orrefors Sweden in the 1960s, model 8493 is one of his most enduring and collectible wall lamp designs, and this example is in perfect condition.

The ice relief texture is the defining feature of Fagerlund's 8493 — the thick glass is pressed with a continuous wave and ripple pattern that transforms a simple cylinder into a complex light-diffusing object. Unlit, it reads as a piece of sculptural glass; illuminated, it fills the surrounding wall and ceiling with a shifting, atmospheric glow that flat-surfaced shades simply cannot produce.
