The design has a particularly elegant, architectural quality, with a long low-slung body raised above the floor on a beautifully shaped sculptural wooden underframe. Rich teak veneer runs across the frontage, creating an attractive continuous grain pattern with plenty of warmth and variation. Storage is exceptionally practical. Twin cupboards flank three generously sized central drawers, providing a combination of concealed cupboard storage and easily accessible drawer space. The original gently curved brass handles add a subtle metallic detail without interrupting the clean lines of the piece. At 166 cm wide, it’s substantial enough to work as a statement living-room sideboard while remaining considerably more manageable than some of the oversized 2-metre-plus mid-century designs. It would work equally well as a media unit, dining-room credenza or generous hallway storage piece. These have been left visible in the photographs and are reflected in the price. The sideboard remains a very attractive example, with particularly strong teak figuring across the front.
