The design has all the hallmarks of post-war British modernism, with beautifully slim proportions, tapered legs, long sculpted armrests and an open spindle back hidden behind the cushions. The exposed timber framework gives it a particularly light and architectural appearance. The sofa incorporates a folding reclining mechanism , allowing the backrest to lower and transform the piece from a three-seater sofa into a generous daybed / occasional sleeping space. The internal construction can be seen in the photographs, including the original-style webbing support system and spindle back. Finished with two substantial upholstered cushions in a neutral oatmeal/beige textured fabric, which works particularly well against the warm tone of the white oak. At 198cm wide , this is a substantial statement piece while retaining the clean, low-profile proportions associated with 1960s furniture. Details British manufacture Circa 1960s White oak frame Three-seater sofa Converts into a sofa bed / daybed Adjustable reclining back Original mid-century frame design Open spindle back construction Tapered legs Long sculpted wooden armrests Webbed seat support Two large upholstered cushions Neutral oatmeal/beige textured upholstery Dimensions Width: 198 cm Depth: 88 cm Height: 68 cm Seat Height: 38 cm Condition Good vintage condition with age-related wear throughout. The wooden frame displays various knocks, scuffs and areas of finish wear consistent with its age and use, particularly around the lower frame and legs. The upholstery remains presentable with some signs of previous use. The internal frame, webbing and reclining mechanism are shown in the photographs for transparency. A characterful, usable example that could be enjoyed as it stands or would make an excellent candidate for sympathetic restoration. See less
