Important Art Nouveau Sideboard – Mercier Frères Paris – Mahogany, Marble, and Mirrors – Circa 1900
A very elegant and substantial Art Nouveau sideboard, crafted by the renowned Parisian firm Mercier Frères, whose original plaque is still present inside the piece.
Made from beautiful mahogany with warm tones, this piece boasts a particularly original and elegant design, characteristic of creations from the 1900s.
The lower section opens with two large doors featuring panels carved with curved and vegetal lines typical of Art Nouveau.
These doors reveal a spacious storage area fitted with a shelf.
Above are two drawers, fitted with original decorative handles combining wood and metal.
The brass keyhole escutcheons and hardware harmoniously complete the ensemble.
The sideboard is topped with a light, deeply veined marble slab, providing a beautiful display surface.
The upper section is particularly decorative, featuring a large back mirror framed by a gently flowing wooden structure.
The sides are also mirrored, enhancing the piece's brightness and depth.
Several rounded, tiered shelves extend from either side, perfect for displaying decorative objects, glassware, or porcelain.
The entire piece is supported by tall, slightly curved uprights that elegantly extend the vertical lines of the cabinet.
The presence of the plaque "Ameublements de Style – Mercier Frères – Paris" is a particularly interesting detail, allowing us to attribute this sideboard to this prominent Parisian furniture manufacturer.
A beautifully crafted decorative piece, both functional and representative of the Art Nouveau style of the Belle Époque.
