Add a touch of East Asian heritage to your walls with this unique, vintage hand-painted decorative gourd. Crafted from a natural dried gourd (hulu or hyobak), this piece features a finely detailed, hand-painted scene depicting a traditional Joseon-era Korean seodang (village school).
The illustration captures a classic classroom dynamic, showing the hunjang (village schoolmaster) instructing young students who are dressed in traditional hanbok with long braided hair.
The gourd is beautifully finished with a warm, rich amber patina on the body and a deep reddish-brown top. It comes ready to hang from an intricate, hand-woven traditional decorative knot (maedup) crafted from matching bronze-toned cord. A truly unique conversation piece, this decorative item is perfect for collectors of Asian folk art, scholars, or anyone looking to add a textured, organic element to a gallery wall.
