A beautifully crafted vintage oak console or sofa table by American Drew, featuring an exceptionally decorative parquet-style top and an elegant turned-leg base.
Measuring 58 inches wide, this substantial yet visually open table features a warm honey-toned oak finish with pronounced natural grain throughout. The rectangular top is particularly striking, composed of carefully matched oak veneer panels arranged in opposing geometric patterns and framed by a wide oak border. A molded edge adds another layer of traditional detailing.
The apron houses two generous drawers, each finished with raised molded borders and antiqued brass-tone bail pulls. Both drawers retain the American Drew maker's mark to the interior, documenting the manufacturer.
Below, four beautifully turned legs are joined by an elaborate stretcher system. Long turned side and rear stretchers incorporate repeated spindle, ring and baluster forms, giving the table considerably more architectural interest than a conventional console.
The combination of warm oak, decorative turning and traditional proportions gives the piece an appealing English Country, American Traditional and French Country sensibility. Its relatively shallow 18-inch depth makes it especially versatile as an entry console, sofa table, library table, oversized hall table or decorative serving surface in a dining room.
