Chenot, depicting a woman artisan seated at her worktable engaged in hosiery production. Finely rendered and delicately colored by hand, the composition combines documentary detail with the decorative appeal characteristic of early 19th-century European occupational studies.

The lower right margin bears the inscription “J. P. Chenot … 1827,” identifying the artist and date. The lithographic imprint below the image reads “Imp. Litho. de Mlle Fourmann, rue St. André des Arts N°39,” identifying the Paris printing workshop responsible for its production.

Created in Paris during the French Restoration period, the work belongs to the tradition of illustrated studies documenting trades, artisans, and métiers.
