Rectangular mirror with a marbled birch frame and a frame construction. 1950s, Scandinavia.
A 1950s Scandinavian mirror featuring a rigorous and balanced design, in which the frame takes center stage thanks to the extraordinary marbled birch grain and the precision of its construction. The surfaces display the wood's characteristic flamed pattern, arranged in different orientations between the uprights and crosspieces, creating a refined graphic interplay that enhances the material without resorting to any decorative elements. The slender proportions of the frame and the balanced relationship between wood and mirror reflect the quest for essentiality typical of mid-twentieth-century Nordic design, where every detail is designed to combine aesthetic value and function. The back is also crafted with the same care, with a panel recessed into the frame and the original suspension system, confirming the precision construction that characterizes the entire piece.
