Dating back to the 1960s, this Scandinavian coffee table is made of teak and stands out for its unique top construction. Beneath the rectangular top is a large open compartment, open at the front and closed at the back. On the short sides of the top, two thin inserts in darker wood create an elegant color contrast with the teak and accentuate the edges of the surface. The base of the compartment protrudes slightly from the sides and rests on the underlying structure, consisting of four straight rectangular legs, set back from the ends of the cabinet and connected by crosspieces. The large surfaces highlight the warm tones and grain of the teak, while the two darker inserts introduce a subtle graphic detail that interrupts the continuity of the top. The table thus combines a very simple construction with a few carefully calibrated details, entrusting much of its character to the wood and the relationship between solids and voids. Good condition. It may show signs of aging. Please pay close attention to the photographs. See less
