painter, graphic artist, calligrapher.

he spent his childhood in aomori in northern japan. The nature and landscape of this region became important early sources of inspiration for his artistic work.

at the age of seven, he began training in japanese calligraphy. This calligraphic training profoundly influenced his later painting, especially his characteristic, minimalist brushstroke.

at the age of 13, kudo won first prize in a japanese youth calligraphy competition. The following year, he again won first prize in an international asian competition.

alongside calligraphy, he increasingly turned to painting and developed a distinctive visual language that combines the reduced line and spontaneity of the calligraphic brushstroke with western painterly elements.

in 1980, he moved to los angeles, where he focused his artistic work.

in los angeles, he founded the kudo studio, which included studios as well as an exhibition and salon space.

in 2016, the kudo studio tokyo opened in tokyo, showcasing his painting, calligraphy, and ceramics together. This piece has an attribution mark,
