the sculptural design is characterized by simplified geometric modelling and clean, angular lines typical of the european modernist vocabulary of the interwar period. Its glossy ivory-white surface displays a pronounced and beautifully preserved crackle glaze, giving the piece considerable visual depth despite its compact dimensions.
the underside retains the original printed l&v ceram manufacturer’s mark.
this type of piggy bank was produced without a removable opening and was therefore generally intended to be broken when the contents were retrieved. Surviving intact examples are consequently uncommon, particularly when retaining both their original coin slot and undamaged ceramic body.
