Authentic early American embossed steel STOP sign, dating approximately to the 1930s–1940s. This substantial 24-inch sign weighs approximately 8.6 lbs and features deeply raised STOP lettering, an embossed perimeter border and remnants of its original yellow and black painted finish beneath decades of natural oxidation.
Before the familiar red-and-white STOP sign became standard in the 1950s, American STOP signs commonly featured a yellow field with black lettering. The remaining yellow and dark paint on this example, combined with its heavy embossed steel construction, gives it wonderful early roadside character.
The surface has been left unrestored and unrefinished, preserving its dramatic weathered patina. An excellent statement piece for an industrial loft, garage, workshop, man cave, restaurant, vintage sign collection or Americana-inspired interior.

Heavy oxidation and surface rust are present throughout, along with substantial paint loss, discoloration, scratches, pitting and general surface wear. Remnants of the original yellow and dark painted finish remain visible beneath the oxidation. The sign retains its embossed STOP lettering, raised perimeter border and mounting holes. No visible maker's mark was found; heavy oxidation may obscure an original manufacturer's marking. Unrestored and sold with its naturally aged patina intact.
