Original, one-of-a-kind oil painting on panel by Montana artist Gregory Wilhelmi, signed and dated 2002, lower right.

The painting depicts a classical Romanesque architectural setting opening to a coastal sea skyline. A beautifully rendered stone archway is framed by carved architectural details and zoomorphic motifs along the columns and arch.

Presented in a custom brushed-metal frame with a natural burlap/linen mat border, giving the traditional subject a refined, updated presentation that works well in both classic and contemporary interiors.

Painting is 40” x 38”
Frame is 49 ¾” x 50 ½”



ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Gregory Wilhelmi is a proficient and prolific painter, who began his career more than 40 years ago. He attended Montana State University and earned a BFA at the University of Denver. Later he became a tenured faculty member at the Colorado Institute of Art. Wilhelmi's work is represented in hundreds of corporate and private collections. His paintings reflect a wide variety of life's explorations and travels, encompassing studies of Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, and his favorite subject, the American West. Gregory is a native of Montana. He has always received great inspiration from the land. Wilhelmi now lives and maintains his studio in Roundup, Montana

Describing his style as contemporary realism, Wilhelmi follows a long tradition of utilizing light and color with a stylistic flair. Short, quick brushstrokes and a bold use of highlights, create a sense of movement and energy that flows through his paintings. See less
