A striking pair of mid-19th-century Crimean War lithographs after William Simpson, published in London in 1855 by Paul & Dominic Colnaghi & Co. as part of Simpson’s celebrated The Seat of War in the East series.
The pair depicts views around Yenikale and Kertch on the Sea of Azov:
“Fortress of Yenikale, Looking Towards the Sea of Azoff”

Both retain their original printed publication inscriptions, including references to Day & Son, Lithographers to the Queen, and Paul & Dominic Colnaghi & Co., Publishers to Her Majesty.
Beautifully detailed military and coastal scenes with subtle period coloring, these works offer both strong decorative presence and genuine historical interest. Particularly appealing displayed together as a pair.
Each sheet measures approximately 14.5” x 22”. Matting is 18x24. Happy to sell with matting or without.
