An elegant decorative pairing of two illustrated literary classics selected for their rich bindings, gilt decoration, and complementary colors. Together, the books create a sophisticated collected-library look in deep green, black, burgundy and gold.
The taller volume is Washington Irving’s The Alhambra, published by The Heritage Press, New York, with an introduction by Angel Flores and illustrations by Lima de Freitas. This Heritage Press edition features an elegant black binding with elaborate gilt decoration and a burgundy spine panel, housed in its original black slipcase. The copyright information references the 1969 Limited Editions Club edition.
Paired with it is Charles Dickens’ Stories for Christmas, published by Platinum Press. The substantial dark green binding is richly decorated in gold with black holly detailing and a lantern motif on the front cover. The collection includes A Christmas Carol along with additional Dickens Christmas stories.
The contrast in height and coordinating gilt decoration makes this pair particularly attractive for display on a library shelf, console, desk, mantel or styled bookcase. An excellent choice for traditional, English-inspired or collected interiors.
