The bowls have wonderfully sculptural forms with rounded bodies and distinctive dipped pouring rims. The smaller bowl nests neatly inside the larger bowl, making the pair both functional and decorative.

Bennington Potters was founded by noted American ceramic designer David Gil in 1948 and has produced its handcrafted stoneware in Bennington, Vermont for generations.

The underside bears the Bennington Potters marking and a numerical designation. Bennington Potters notes that these impressed numbers identify the pottery’s shape or style and are not production dates.

The rich glaze reads as a very dark navy blue with mottled/splattered blue variation, giving each bowl depth and character. An attractive example of American studio stoneware that works beautifully as serving ware, kitchen decor, or displayed as a nesting pair.
