On the Design:

Pioneered in the 1920s and 1930s, the Chinese Art Deco movement transformed Asian textile art by pairing traditional Eastern botanical symbolism with Western Deco color sensibilities. Moving away from dense, multi-bordered classical carpets, Chinese Deco championed expansive open fields, dramatic asymmetrical floral vignettes, and soft, impressionistic palettes tailored for modern homes. This contemporary rug directly channels the 1920s design intelligence, capturing the movement’s signature painterly freedom across a serene celadon-green wool canvas.

A double-stranded, braided vine border neatly hugs the perimeter, creating a delicate window-like enclosure around the open field. Sweeping vertically through the layout is a single, continuous serpentine vine that weaves an organic, rhythmic path across the center.
