The lamp is constructed from painted metal and features a large circular reflector mounted on a sturdy freestanding base. Both the reflector and the light source can be adjusted: the reflector can be tilted to direct the light, while the smaller lamp housing is mounted on metal rods and can be repositioned in relation to the reflector. This allows for anything from a broad, diffused illumination to a more concentrated and directional light. The large reflector has a pale interior surface that produces an unusually soft and even light, contrasting with the vivid green-painted exterior and base. Exposed adjustment rods, locking screws and the brass lamp holder give the piece a distinctly functional, almost scientific appearance characteristic of specialist lighting from the interwar period. A particularly sculptural example of early Swedish functionalist lighting, combining an experimental approach to illumination with the straightforward industrial construction of the period. Its substantial proportions and striking green finish make it equally effective today as a functional desk or studio lamp and as a decorative object.
