"wrinkled" is a tactile and interactive manifesto that marks the absolute intersection of high-end tailoring and industrial design. The artwork is the material synthesis of italian designer dario nasuti’s exceptional background: a thirty-year career at the pinnacle of international luxury fashion, culminating in nearly a decade as the ceo of a multinational corporation owning historic global fashion brands. This profound sensitivity for theatrical draping, textures, and soft volumes is deconstructed and fused with electronics to create a true piece of functional art.

sartorial architecture and a moldable soul
entirely handcrafted in italy, within the designer’s parma-based laboratory, the wall sconce consists of an imposing two-tone drape of precious velvet. The engineering innovation lies in its hidden structure: the two layers of fabric are coupled and hand-sewn around a special stiffening tin-foil core. This internal skeleton allows the collector or interior designer to physically interact with the artwork—wrinkling, folding, and molding the panel at will to create ever-changing sculptural drapes. The fabric floats in space thanks to a fine curved steel tube, anchored to a sturdy rectangular metal wall plate, custom-forged by a specialized mechanical workshop.

lighting engineering and total bespoke
the lighting design of "wrinkled" operates on two levels to generate theatrical and dreamlike atmospheres. The wall plate houses a recessed 4.5w led spotlight that backlights the drape, projecting a soft glow that caresses the wall and the rear velvet. Simultaneously, the front panel is pierced by a constellation of led micro-spheres manually embedded in the fabric, the result of a meticulous hybrid process combining electrical wiring and hand-stitching.
the artwork is conceived to be fully customizable (bespoke). The prototype highlights the contrast between the golden-yellow velvet exterior and the midnight-blue interior, but the designer offers the possibility to invert the drape's colors or select custom chromatic combinations to perfectly integrate into any prestigious architectural project.
