Solid wood and steel coffee table. Designed by Raphael Springmann, 21st century.
Designed by Raphael Springmann, the "Chopping Block with Axe" coffee table is born from the juxtaposition of materials and shapes from different contexts. The base is made of a solid wood block, retaining its natural cracks and traces of processing. A steel axe head emerges from it, incorporating a shaped wooden element that supports the top. The top features a carefully finished surface, while the front edge retains the natural profile of the trunk and part of the bark, revealing the origins of the material. The construction alternates worked surfaces with elements left in their natural state, highlighting Springmann's attention to materiality and the relationship between function and craftsmanship. The block is also signed with the engraving "RAPHAEL" and marked with a firebrand. Good condition. May show signs of aging. Please refer to the photographs carefully.
