A unique, large figure of a circus clown by Jun Asilo, made in the Philippines in 1996.
The sculpture depicts an expressive clown in a characteristic circus costume, suspended from a crossbar and holding on with both hands. The figure stands out for its very interesting, hand-crafted design and hand-painted polychrome. The face, hairstyle, ruff, bow tie, and costume details are particularly striking.
The figurine is signed “Jun Asilo” on the back, along with the date 1996, which allows it to be attributed to the artist and its creation date to be precisely determined.
The piece has strong collector’s and decorative value. It will be an interesting addition to collections of vintage circus art, clown figurines, and Philippine decorative art, as well as an original element in an eclectic interior.
Preserved in its original condition, with visible natural signs of age and use, including minor scuffs and losses of polychrome. All visible marks have been left as-is and are shown in the photographs.
