The present work is executed on mixed media/canvas and measures approximately 60 x 60 cm. This expressive piece depicts the nuanced portrait of a bearded man, whose soft, contemplative features and deep eyes subtly recall classical depictions of Christ, framed by a rough, tactilely textured, light-colored surface. The compositional sophistication lies in the illusionistic effect of a torn frame or a broken wall, through which the portrait seems to gaze out from the depths into the viewer's space. The reduced color palette, based primarily on black, shades of gray, and the off-white and sandy tones of the impasto ground, lends the subject a melancholic yet spiritually charged atmosphere.
