The commode … Read more Neoclassical chest of drawers hand-made in Italy in the mid 1700s using walnut and decorated with walnut veneer. The commode features three overlay drawers decorated with diagonal cross-banded veneer. The front corners are decorated with hand-carved vertical floral decorations. The top is made of two boards with ogee edges, and decorated with an inlaid cross-banded veneer, just line the sides. The top shows some signs of age and usage, which all add beautiful depth and character to the piece. The legs are tapered and fluted. The hardware may be original to the piece.
Overall this is a gorgeous chest, with stunning character and proportions. The color of the walnut is warm and the few imperfections only add to its beauty. See less
