This striking, high-relief architectural-style sculpture is entirely hand-sculpted from dense, heavy limestone. It dramatically depicts an equestrian chariot procession modeled after ancient Han Dynasty tomb reliefs.
The piece showcases robust geometric detailing, from the classical layered musculature of the horse to the deeply chiseled spokes of the chariot wheel. The upper border is finished with an ornate circular medallion featuring traditional stylized cloud scrolls and geometric rims.
An earthy, multi-toned tomb-style patina enhances the deeply carved recesses, lending the stone an exceptional antiquarian presence and depth. The main sculpture rests flush and sits securely within its heavy, removable coordinating limestone plinth base, making this substantial two-piece work a phenomenal decorative centerpiece for high-end interiors, mantels, or library shelves.

Wear is entirely consistent with age, material, and production style. The main body of the horse and all carved figures are in very good condition, remaining structurally intact with sharp, crisp detail. The upper circular cloud medallion is likewise in very good shape and free of chips. Legs & Support Structure: Faint, stable structural hairline fissures are present near the horse's lower legs and hooves, which is typical for natural limestone under stress. A prior professional repair is noted near the lower support structure of the horse's legs/hooves. This mend is completely solid, stable, contains no internal iron dowels, and blends naturally into the deeply chiseled texture of the stone ground. Plinth Base: The removable base is completely sturdy, solid, and holds the main relief panel securely without a nested peg system. Prior structural edge wear and chips/fleabites are present along the perimeter rim of the base plinth, adding to its rustic, artifact-like antiquarian appearance. less
