A beautifully understated mid 20th century art glass decanter, probably Italian and dating to circa 1960s.
The hand blown bottle has a softly luminous blush pink opaline glass body with a flattened oval profile, rounded shoulders, a short neck, and a gently flared collar. Its restrained silhouette is animated by an oversized amber glass stopper, hand formed into an elongated teardrop shape and finished with a fitted ground glass plug.
The pairing of opaque pastel glass with a contrasting translucent stopper is characteristic of Italian decorative glass from the period. Elegant in its simplicity, the bottle works equally well as barware, a vanity bottle, or a sculptural decorative object.
The piece is unmarked, and the Italian attribution is based on its glass, construction, palette and form rather than a documented maker.
