A truly unique and exceptional piece of upcycled assemblage folk art, this large 21-inch standing angel lantern perfectly balances primitive charm with architectural history. Handcrafted from lightweight, hand-stamped aluminum tin with dramatic corrugated wings, the most striking feature is the angel's head—ingeniously fashioned from a salvaged, antique hollow iron doorknob.
The reverse of the head beautifully showcases the doorknob's original weathered keyhole and time-worn character. The expansive open-back cavity includes an integrated flat tray to securely hold a pillar candle, votive, or LED source. When illuminated, the flame reflects brilliantly against the inner metal, casting soft ambient light through the front scrollwork repoussé. A masterful blend of found-object texture and functional design, ideal for an eclectic mantel, rustic hearth, or sheltered patio.
The lower skirt features two hand-soldered expansion wedges at the base, expertly added by the artisan to widen the footprint, structurally reinforce the frame against the top-heavy iron head, and ensure the piece stands perfectly stable and level.

It features natural rust oxidation, extensive time-worn pitting, a rusted-through keyhole opening, and a small puncture hole near the base screw, all of which are original to the found object and integral to the sculpture's character. The Body & Wings: The hand-punched aluminum-tin body and corrugated wings show light, localized surface scuffs, faint superficial scratches, and the gentle, matte-grey dulling typical of aged galvanized metal. Construction: All structural joints, welds, and rivets are tight and completely stable. The integrated internal candle tray is flat, sturdy, and ready for use. Free of any modern aftermarket damage, odors, or structural defects. less
