"The Emperor Gives His Final Orders to the Marshals on the Heights of Bellowitz at 8 o'clock in the Morning."

A SUPERB historical engraving depicting the celebrated Battle of Austerlitz, regarded as one of Napoleon Bonaparte's greatest military victories and widely known as the "Battle of the Three Emperors."

The central composition illustrates a decisive moment immediately before the engagement: "The Emperor Gives His Final Orders to the Marshals on the Heights of Bellowitz at 8 o'clock in the Morning." Napoleon is portrayed on horseback, surrounded by his marshals and senior officers, in a solemn composition that perfectly embodies the Imperial iconography of the early nineteenth century.

The richly ornamented decorative border forms a true visual celebration of the 1805 campaign and fully reflects the Imperial propaganda developed during the First French Empire. It is embellished with numerous allegorical and military motifs that glorify Napoleon's victories and reinforce the heroic character of the composition.

The engraving was executed after Carle Vernet, one of the most celebrated painters and military illustrators of the First Empire, renowned for his remarkable equestrian and Napoleonic scenes.

Etched by Duplessis-Bertaux and completed by Niquet, both distinguished engravers who contributed to the major Imperial publications of the early nineteenth century.
