A classic piece of Chinese furniture, this tall lacquered cabinet was likely part of a traditional wedding dowry, bestowed upon the groom by the bride's family filled with fine silks, linens, and other gifts. Dated to the mid-19th century, this wedding cabinet is crafted in the style of sloping-stile cabinets, with a slightly A-frame silhouette and an overhung top. The cabinet's exterior is brushed with glossy lacquer in opaque shades of blue-green and creme, applied atop the well-worn original finish for renewed vibrancy and a one-of-a-kind crackle.
Brass hardware is replacement.
