Marjolyn van der Hart personally confirmed through written correspondence that this work was painted during her first year as an artist. She explained that she was working in an impressionist style at the time, focusing on female-centered stories set within intimate spaces such as gardens. The elegant woman with a parasol is characteristic of this formative period in the artist’s career.

Rendered in layered shades of aqua, teal, blue, lavender, blush pink, and soft white, the painting depicts a peaceful garden path leading toward a white gazebo. Expressive brushwork and richly textured paint create a romantic, dreamlike atmosphere.

The painting is signed “M. Van der Hart” in the lower-left corner. The reverse is handwritten with the artist’s name and date. Presented in a coordinating cream-and-gold wood frame and ready to hang.
