Beautifully modeled and hand-painted in a rich golden glaze with dramatic black spotting, expressive faces, and wonderful sculptural detail. The large scale makes this an especially impressive statement piece.

Marked underneath “Made in Italy 3/755,” identifying the model. This design is associated with the later Ronzan family production and dates to approximately the 1970s–1980s. The Ronzan family had an important history in Italian ceramics beginning with Giovanni Ronzan, who worked for the celebrated Lenci factory in Turin before establishing his own ceramic enterprise. The family continued producing highly decorative figurines and animal sculptures throughout the 20th century.
