This distinguished pair of Chelsea House wall art pieces transcends mere decoration; they are statement works crafted to infuse a home with artistic elegance and sophistication. Hand-painted in watercolor on silk, the surfaces have a unique texture and subtle glow that mass-produced prints cannot replicate. Originally sold by Chelsea House in 1980's, both panels retain their original paper labels attached to the back of the paintings:
Registered No. 4586A – Peacocks – Five Birds
Titled in Chinese 五倫圖 (Wulun Tu / Picture of the Five Relationships). Two peacocks stand on a rocky outcrop beneath pine and bamboo, with a pair of red-crowned cranes below.
Registered No. 4586B – Peacocks and Flowers
A complementary scene of a peacock with its tail displayed beside peonies, a white blossom, and a scholar’s rock under a flowering plum tree.
Painted in the style of Qing dynasty court artist Jiang Tingxi, the pair belongs to the distinguished Chelsea House collection. The generous scale and classic gold-frame finish allow the works to serve as an ideal anchor for a large wall, whether above a console in a foyer or as the centerpiece over a fireplace. They harmonize beautifully with both traditional and transitional interiors. The original Chelsea House labels note that slight irregularities in the silk and color application are inherent to the hand-painted process and are not considered flaws.
