Designed by renowned Royal Copenhagen sculptor Christian Thomsen (1860–1921), the composition captures a quiet moment in the field as a hunter sits preparing while his faithful hound rests attentively at his feet.

The figure is beautifully rendered in glazed, hand-painted porcelain, with Royal Copenhagen’s characteristic soft and naturalistic palette. The hunter wears a deep forest-green jacket and matching brimmed hat, complemented by warm brown leather straps and tall riding boots. Subtle shades of blue, gray, cream and brown define the rocky naturalistic base, while the hunting dog is wonderfully modeled with an alert yet patient expression.

Particularly appealing is the extraordinary attention to detail throughout the composition.
