Form and function...that is a definitive motto for Branan Mercer's ceramic 'tea bowl' cup. Mercer started his artistic journey in Alabama and Florida with an eye for functionalism and a love of unique designs with a nod to mid 20th century ceramicists such as Lucy Rie. His 'tea bowl' has become a staple in his repertoire with a wonderful combination of matte porcelain and a realistic drip glaze in a contrasting color. He credits his spouse and her graphic designer's eye with creating unique color combos that are eye catching and stylish. This cup is a dark gray bottom with hints of green and a creamy vanilla drippy glaze....an optical illusion that is witty and good looking at the same time. Signed 'M' at the base. From the Atlanta estate of an artist and art collector.
