Antique Persian Kurdish Runner with Sky Blue Field and Geometric Tribal Motifs. Keivan Woven Arts / rug EMA-7565, country of origin / type: Iran / Kurdish, circa 1900.

An antique Persian Kurdish runner showcasing a radiant sky blue field adorned with a series of geometric medallions in soft coral, ivory, olive, and camel tones. The symmetrical medallion layout is interspersed with stylized tribal motifs, creating a rhythmic visual flow that is both balanced and expressive of Kurdish weaving heritage.

The vibrant field is framed by a multi-stripe border system, including a distinctive ivory border filled with highly abstracted motifs and angular vine work, typical of northwest Persian tribal aesthetic. Each corner and edge shows strong graphic articulation in earthy tones that ground the lighter hues of the central field.

Woven from wool on a wool foundation, the rug offers both visual warmth and textural durability. Its elongated format makes it an ideal statement piece for entryways, galleries, or transitional spaces where vibrant color and nomadic character are appreciated. This antique Kurdish runner reflects the spontaneity and individuality characteristic of village craftsmanship in western Iran.
