This rare table lamp was designed by Sergio Mazza and Giuliana Gramigna in 1973. The model is called Magnolia, produced by Quattrifolio in Italy.
The graphic design features a chromed base with four tubular pillar legs and the shade holder. The mushroom-shaped shade is executed in Italian incamiciato lattimo opal glass. An iconic piece of Italian Modern lighting with an early space-age sensibility.
The lamp is in fully original, very good vintage condition with only minor wear consistent with age and use.

Born in 1931 in Milan, Italy, Sergio Mazza is a renowned Italian designer celebrated for his contributions to industrial and furniture design. Mazza began his career in the 1950s, and his work is characterized by a blend of functionality, elegance, and modernist principles. In 1955, he founded the design studio SMC with Giuliana Gramigna, his future wife and collaborator, focusing on interior design and architecture. Mazza is particularly famous for his lighting designs where he masterfully blends the use of glass, steal, brass and clean lines . One of his notable creations is the “Sigma” table lamp, designed in 1959 for Artemide, a leading Italian lighting manufacturer with whom Mazza frequently collaborated. In addition to lighting, Mazza designed a range of furniture pieces, including chairs, tables, and storage solutions, often incorporating materials like metal and wood to create timeless and versatile designs. Today, Mazza’s creations remain highly regarded and sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts, showcasing the timeless appeal of his innovative and elegant design philosophy.
